• Call for Proposals for Stair Artworks - Canadian Heritage 

  Submission deadline April 19

  Canadian Heritage is seeking a dynamic, impactful image that conveys the theme “Call and Response.” This Call for Proposals is open to Canadian visual artists, photographers, graphic designers and illustrators between the ages of 18 and 39. This competition is intended to provide opportunities to young artists, including students, emerging artists and those entering mid-career.

  The National Arts Centre is Canada’s bilingual, multi-disciplinary home for the performing arts. It presents, creates, produces, and co-produces performing arts programming in various streams (the National Arts Centre Orchestra, Dance, English Theatre, French Theatre, Indigenous Theatre, and Popular Music and Variety) and nurtures the next generation of audiences and artists from across Canada. The National Arts Centre is located in the National Capital Region on the unceded territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation.

• March OPEN CALL Black Disabled Mother-Daughter Org Distributing Microgrants to National BIWOC Creatives 

  Submission Deadline May 5

  TITLE: Sista Creatives Rising Presents: The Sistas Uprising Fund. For BIWOC and Femme-Expressing POC Date: March 28-May 5. Free to submit. Sista Creatives Rising (SCR) is a project founded by Black, invisibly disabled mother-daughter duo Claire Jones and Amaranthia Sepia. Seven chosen visual artists of any medium based in the US and Canada will receive a $200 microgrant. Artists must submit 2 minute videos about how funds will help. Funds can be used to help pay for expenses hindering their artistic process, or can be used directly for their art projects. We encourage disabled artists to apply.

• Farm Studio International Artist Residency 2025 

  DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: MAY 5, 2024

  Farm Studio International Artist Residency is located in a rural community in India. Residents stay and create in a quiet art centre and beautiful environment where they can develop their artwork free from accustomed distractions. Farm Studio residency provides three types of working spaces where artists can explore their art and ideas in the rural Rajasthani environment; at the Farm Studio indoor studios, the outdoor desert and farm environments, and in Andore Village. Here, collaboration and experimentation is encouraged. Relationships form between the artists coming from different countries and varied social, cultural, and artistic backgrounds. Many exciting exchanges and dialogues among artists take place, including scheduled artist talks, presentations, works in progress showings, etc. Farm Studio also promotes and celebrates the local community’s artistic and cultural identity while also introducing art and culture of others’ (Indian and International guests) back to the community. This intercultural exchange broadens everyone’s experiences and fosters art appreciation. Farm Studio International Artist Residency hosts artists from October to the end of February each year, with accommodations available for 3-6 residents at one time.

• CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FROM CANADIAN ARTISTS - Momenta Biennalle 

  Deadline: May 14, 2024

  MOMENTA is launching its call for submissions for its 2025 edition. The Biennale invites Canadian* artists and artist collectives, emerging and established, to submit a project to show us their works connected with the Biennale’s theme, whether at the ideation or the production stage. We are looking for works that explore the potentialities of missing images to renew narratives relating to time, history, and the world. We wish to investigate multiple perspectives including, but not limited to, invisibilization, infiltration, erasure, fugitivity, hospitality, solidarity, archipelagic thinking, decolonization, new narratives, mechanisms of exclusion, hybridization, etc. We are interested in works that involve the notion of the image, including installations, experiential works, and other forms. We will pay special attention to works that are new or have not been exhibited in Quebec and/or in Tiohti’á:ke / Mooniyang / Montreal. From a perspective of openness and self-reflection, MOMENTA aspires to adopt a flexible and caring attitude. We therefore invite artists from a variety of horizons, origins, and career stages to submit a project. In addition, applicants who are experiencing challenges supplying materials in the form requested may contact our team at exposition@momentabiennale.com to make special arrangements for making a submission. MOMENTA also pays particular attention to eco-responsibility and encourages artists to submit proposals that are respectful of and sensitive to environmental issues.

• ART AT THE PUMPHOUSE - Call for artists

  Juried Art Show and Sale: August 3 & 4, 2024 Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre presents the premier event showcasing a diverse array of original works, including paintings, photography, sculpture, woodwork, glass, pottery, textiles, jewelry, and more. Bringing together artists and artisans from both the region and beyond, the in-person event takes place on Saturday, August 3, and Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, an online show will be available from July 15 to August 11, 2024. Our in person event provides guests a chance to view and acquire unique pieces amid a picturesque riverside backdrop, where they can also engage with artists and artisans. Our galleries showcase an array of outstanding pieces that are available for purchase. New this year: • An outdoor marketplace showcasing the craftsmanship of artisans. • Live demonstrations by artists, adding an interactive element to the show

• Parliamentary Poet Laureate nominations 

  Nomination deadline June 17

  Nominations are currently being accepted for the 11th Parliamentary Poet Laureate. Nominations must be postmarked by 17 June 2024. Those selected to be Poets laureate have made a significant contribution to Canada’s literary community through their poetry, which can be written or spoken poetry of any genre. We invite nominations of poets from all backgrounds and life experiences who are residents of Canada. Poets from any provinces or territories are welcome. To ensure that Canada’s official languages are equitably represented, appointments to the position alternate between a poet who works primarily in English and a poet who works primarily in French. For the 2025–2026 term, the Poet will be expected to work primarily in English.
